I looked at Technorati – I am getting blog overload. I need to turn to my Pandora account to listen to some soft music. Does this count.

Thing 12 – Wikis
I have some experience with wikis in that we used one for the Library Strategic Scorecard. I like the application for work only if you don’t have to know the html code. I spent some time looking at some of wikis suggested in the blog – but I could not sign up for another thing. I did like the one wiki – the know it one. I learned how to boil and egg. I can see where it will become more useful as a way to communicate in a group. Email is getting more difficult to work with. Groups can talk to each other. I think I will experience with wetpaint for the Wellness Committee startup and since Jenny is on that committee she help with the wiki.

Thing #15 Digg
I have been playing around a bit with Digg and Reddit. I created a Digg account – I think I may have created a Reddit account too. I have so many accounts with all these web 2.0 applications I don’t which end is up – they all are starting to overlap in my mind. The Digg applications is interesting. I don’t think I would “shout” or whatever else they do on these things. I quess the difference between Digg and my Rss Reader is that Digg is driven by people and the RSS reader is based on what I select. I still don’t know what I should put below this post for Tag or Categories. I’ll have to ask.

Tags – help!
I would like a demonstration on the value of and how to use tags. Where do I put them – the term seems to show up on many things.

Thing 24 – my thoughts
I have really enjoyed this program. I have learned much and at the same time enjoy the many new applications that I am now using. Some of the applications are fun and some are very useful. I still have much to learn in this digital age. I feel a little more confident now and I will just have to keep up with it. I suppose if I subscribe to the 23 teams blog I can read about what’s new and explore any links you have set up. Oh dear – I am not sure I know how to subscribe to your blogs? I may need to call you. Thank you for running this program.

Thing 23 Web 2.0 perspective
I have read through some of the perspective on Web 2.0 and Library 2.0. I’ve been thinking how we can weather the 2.0 world. I see the challenges for us but I’m not sure we will be totally obliterated. I still have to believe that books the way we know a hardcover or softcover book will continue to be produced. I do believe that libraries should also become virtual. There could be a place for libraries on the web between google and the user. Perhaps the user asks the virtual librarian to conduct their research using google, databases and web 2.0 sites. At some point – people will get lazy with google and sifting through countless blogs, web 2.0 applications and google results. Maybe that is the LIbrary 2.0 plan. I do see how important the issue is for libraries and for staff to become very fluent in many of the 2.0 applications. Teaching the public about web 2.0 is within the intellectual freedom mission. But on the other hand -I still believe books will continue to be relevant. I believe that print material and virtual print material can coexist. I am a huge star trek fan. And Jean Luc Picard – captain of Enterprise did read from his Kindle type hand held device – but he also could be found in his quarters many a times reading a large hardcover book.

Thing 22 Podcasts
I was intrigued by reading your number 22 blog post that you believe podcasting is so powerful. I had have to talk to you more about how you see this as a powerful communication tool. I do other people talking about podcasts that they have downloaded on their mp3 players. I suppose if I had an mp3 player I could download the Diane Rehm show and listen to it at night. I almost signed up for an account at podcast.com but they wanted my cell phone make? Why – can I download a podcast to my cell phone. I think I should talk to one of the 24 things ladies about this.

Thing 21 You Tube and Metacafe
I have been viewing You tube for awhile now. I have a daughter who exposed me to it – but what I like about You Tube is that I get see snipets of some of the broadway shows. Some of video is really crappy because it the shot is being made from someone’s purse or there is a head in the middle of the screen but some that are released from the broadway production company are great. Check out performances of Wicked, Jersey Boys Young Frankenstein and others.
I checked out Metacafe – and immediately thought I could be doing something else than watching this stuff. Nothing interested me – seemed geared to a younger generation who do not have housework, homework and work to do.

Thing 19 Web 2.0
I reviewed the Web 2.0 Awards list. I was surprised that Web 2.0 had its own “oscar”. I was happy to see that some of the web 2.0 applications are the ones I have learned to use through the 23 programs. Web 2.0 is starting to make sense to me now. there are so many to explore.
I have been sampling SEOmoz’s awards by category. I was sort of hoping I could find a web 2.0 ”performance review” application -not yet out there – but if i were SHRM – I would put it out there.
